Hi guys,

I moved my koi from my pond to my father in law's last week.

Out of 9 I moved, only 1 remains.

My father in law has an incredible problem with any koi under 30cm being eaten I assume. I am not sure by what bird though.

I don't have any pictures. But I will take some tonight.

It is basically 4X5 and about 1-1.5m deep.

It is in front of the house and there is a roofcoverying most of it, it is about 2 stories above the pond though.

The pond also has a huge eagle statue in the middle of it, which I thought would stop the birds catching the fish.

Any advice on how to stop the fish disappearing apart from a net?

Where is his place ... region city.

The giant kingfishers will take fairly big koi but you will also see lots of injuries.

An otter can sweep a pond rapidly but you should see remnants if the fish are 30cm.

A fish eagle will make his presence known.

In certain regions we have a specific big owl that takes fish.

If the edge is close to ground level and the water is close to the brim herons will take the koi.

These are guesses.

Maybe install some of the cheap motion sensors that you can get nowadays and link it to a hooter.

Actually we live in a golf estate in pretoria. There are many different types of birds including the occasional eagle.'

Check for white spots on your eagle statue....if there are any then you know it's another eagle chowing all the fish and having fun while doing so!!!
