I collected some great Koi from Jaco on the day before xmas and I transferred them to my QT pond. They spawned in the earlier hours of Xmas morning. I thought they were fighting or stressed up due to the small pond but little did I know they were spawning.

Nie noodwendig 'n goeie ding nie.
Toets water elke dag.

What sort of Koi can you expect from a Hariwake female and Sanke males? Remember it was not planned. In fact it was a big surprise to me

Xmas was a great day when Koi spawned. It was ever greater because I did not even know that since I thought they did not like the small pond and were fighting because they were use to a large pond.

The Ammonia was sky-high after spawning but I only saw the eggs a day later so I did not take water out directly after spawning. The next day I did a large water change and did the same every day after the spawning. Within a few hours after the water change the ammonia went high again.( about 800 000 eggs, including the dead eggs) I was thinking to transfer the QT fish to my large pond but was worried that I might encounter health problem and left them in QT with the eggs. Sadly to say, all 6 large Koi in QT died on Wednesday evening. They were still fine at 5.30pm but found them all dead by 8pm.

So guys, make sure your Ammonia level is low, especially in a very new pond without a proper working filter system. It is true what they say, ammonia and nitrite is the number one killer in a pond.

Dis very, very bad my vriend.

Hi Jaco

So leer mens elke dag iets nuuts
