I have been a long distance member of SAKKS for several years and had the pleasure of judging the Joberg koi show a few years back. Also have gotten to know some of the great folks involved in SAKKS at koi events around the world.

If anyone has any questions about the koi hobby in the U.S. just give me a shout. I look forward to participating in some of the discussions about koi on this forum.

Hi Ray
On your next visit to SA you must allow yourself a real treat and visit Cape Town. The Koi hobbyist in Cape Town would love for you to share some Koi experience and to even be a judge at one of our shows. Keep and open mind and pencil the WCKC in on your next SA trip.

Thanks for the welcome. We visited Cape Town and the cape area on the same trip we made to the Joberg show a few years ago. We loved the cape area and had a fantastic time.

It is lot's of fun to visit with koi keepers from different parts of the world. Makes me wish we could bring a few of the orginal Japanese Koi Breeders forward in time somehow to see the results of the colored carp breeding they started.

We have had a lot of visitors from Japan, Europe and from all over the U.S. Still hoping for some South African Koi Keepers to visit us.

I visited the USA a few times the past years but sadly my Koi madness only started about 2 years ago and I only got to know of Koi Bito some time later. About 18mths ago I visited Washington, San Diego, Chicago and New York. If I only timed my Bito aquintance a bit earlier I would have definetly tried to meet up with Koi keepers. Next time round it will be a priority on my list of things to do and see. I will ask Mike Harvey to map a Koi USA tour.
