Hi Guys,

I need to build a filtration system in doors for lab use.
We cut and manufacture specticle lenses.
This is what I had in mind:

1 x 250 ltr plastic blue drum
1 x .45 hp speck pump ( I think it will be to powerful) or submersiable
1 x bio zap filter+ uv light
All connectors and pipes to be pvc

The system needs to run independant with out been tapped into municipal water

Any comments will be appreciated

As a matter of interest what will the filtered water be used for?
The .45 KW pump will be too much. I run a similar setup on my 1500 litre QT using a 3000 l/h submersible which needs to be choked to prevent overflowing the 25 litre Ultrazap filter.

It is to be used to cut optical lenses. But it must be recyleable. Only to be used in emergency as a back up water supply.

I don’t know if this will be of any use to you:

Marconi uses a transmitter in the telecom industry that produce 10kW but it dissipates about 20kW of heat. The ‘cathode’ of the ‘Klystron’ is submerged in water to cool it down and the steam is then fed to a huge radiator / fan. The water is then gravity fed back to the transmitter. Since the ‘cathode’ is made out of copper you are not allowed to use tap water to ‘top it up’

They use a thing called a heat exchanger to supply pure water to the amplifier. It is a stainless steel tank with a steel partition in the middle. On the one side they run tap water into the tank with a kettle element to heat the water. The lid is fitted at an angle, so the steam / condensed water that form on the lid will run into the second chamber. They use a valve on the outlet to supply the amplifier with pure water whenever they need it. You can fit float levels inside the exchanger to switch the element off whenever the tank is full.

Now you will have pure water without any solids in it for cutting the lenses.

Thanks for in info, most of the particles if it is glass lenses will sink to the bottom of the tank and the plastic lens material makes a foamy paste which floats. Therefor there are no solids.
