Rain water in ponds

After building my small QT pond of nearly 8000L I added water and let it run for a few days, but emptied it again. Louise is doing the maintenance on both ponds and part of the deal building the second pond was that I had to redo the bathroom for her. The main reason for empting the pond was that a lot of dust collected in the pond due to the traffic from the workers. I did not want to fill up the pond again till they were finished. ( I did catch all the remaining fish in my main pond and inspected them for ulcers but could not find any, so it gave me some time before using the QT/Hospital pond again)

I have noticed the following:

It rained very hard for a few days and believe it or not, the small pond filled up with rain water right to the top. This concerns me and my question is: What will the effect be when you run a pond and the rainwater replaces half your pond water within a few days?

Marius you better put your pond building on hold and start building your ark!
8000ltr is an extreme amount of water to come down from the heavens. The surface area of your pond can't be much more than 8 square meters which in my mind means a m**r of an amount of water, something like a monsoon or tsunami. The farmers in the FS are probably complaining because they can't plough or plant etc.
What was the rainfall during the time it rained?
Is there not water spilling from the roof into your pond? I had that problem and needed to modify the roof runoff to miss the pond.

Skuus Jan. Ek het my naam sopas lelik gat gemaak. Ek was ook bekommerd dat ek dalk boot huistoe moes neem maar het bevestig dat dit my klein 'goudvis' dam was wat vol is.(word nie meer gebruik nie en was leeg) Seker maar so 30 tot 40cm diep en ek vermoed dat die geut ook verstop is aangesien daar baie blare inval en ek het dit nie die jaar skoongemaak nie.

Nou is sommer teleurgesteld. Sou nogaal graag jou ark-bou-projek op die forum gevolg het.

Nie net sou ons die laagste dam temperatuur vir die winter op die forum gehad het nie, maar ook die meeste reen. Arme Koi wat in tuin rond swem

Gelukkig het reen darem meeste boustof laat verdwyn

sure your fish are still in the main pond Very Happy

Jokes aside id check the PH and Carbonate hardness (KH) with alot of rain, if the KH level drops the PH level may swing.
