Good morning,

There is a rumour doing the rounds up here in Gauteng that the Cape Koi Show was a great success.

Congratulations to every one - and out of the ashes of the disbanded Chapter! Wow.

That takes some doing.

Now we wish the SAKTA Show all the best for the coming weekend.

Regards

I have been there all the time and think that, considering where the Chapter was a while ago, Johan, Ernst and Danica did a great job. Well done!

Not as many visitors as before due to the lack of funds to advertise, but definitely on track again.

Quality of the fish was good, the judging not always. (Not sour grapes, I did not enter and was an objective observer)

From a dealer's point of view, sales could be better. Not enough people went through (160 on Saturday), the economic climate is very poor and people limit expenditure on luxury items(Koi), and winter is not a good time to buy.

Dealers: Koi Online, Cape Koi Aquarium, Platinum Koi, Orient Koi and Frans Metz.

I believe that August is not a good time to have a show in the Western Cape. The immune systems of the koi are very low and the people tend to stay at home in winter time.

Anyway, it was a success.

Yes, the show was a success but there is something i have to mention.

The committee lacked a bit in the planning department by only organising the first meeting in June but luckily everything went off well. A small group of members took some of the inituative and helped with the show. These members showed up out of there own and helped to organise, plan and setup the show.

Thank you to these members. In the previouse two koi shows the shows where setup by only two or three individuals. This year some SAKKS members took back which was theirs in fear that the chapter would collaps if they did not jump in and help.

I would like to name some of the the actual individuals that made the show a success as there are more than just 3 committee members.

1. Quinton Jones (SAKKS member)
2. Yvette Jones (SAKKS member)
3. Louise John-Crous (SAKKS member)
4. Christie Van Zyl (SAKKS & SAKTA member)
5. Myring (Employ from Cape Koi)
6. Nicholas (Employ from Cape Koi)
7. Colin Nel (SAKKS & SAKTA member)
8. Lee-Ann Nel (SAKKS & SAKTA member)
9. Wayne Barker (SAKKS member)
10. Danica Resoort (SAKKS member)
11. Ernst Van Dyk (SAKKS member)
12. Franswa Van Dyk (Ernst Van Dyk Brother)
13. Johan Jacobs (SAKKS member)
14. Simon (Lobourer from Johan Jacobs)

I am glad that more members helped this year as this can just be a good sign for the future. Lets hope that our next show will be just as successfull.
