Posted on behalf of Cape Koi Aquarium.

Cape Koi Aquarium cordially invites you to attend a koi sale weekend with a difference this weekend of the 27-29 of March 2009.

Apart from Cape Koi’s selection of imported Japanese koi, Christie’s guest for the weekend will be Louis Kruger from Izimo Koi Farm near Bloemfontein. Louis will be bringing some imported Japanese fish, in addition to an impressive selection of some of the best locally bred koi from Izimo Koi Farm.

This is definitely an opportunity not to be missed. Be sure to join Christie and Louis at Cape Koi Aquarium in the beautiful Cape Garden Centre, from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 March. We look forward to seeing you there.

For any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (021)9889724.

Koi Greetings
Christie & Louis

IZIMO Koi Farm Expo at Cape Koi Aquarium

In 2007, at 4 of the five chapter Koi shows held in South Africa, 4 koi respectively won honours as being the best doitsu koi on show. All four these koi were bred by Izimo Koi Farm.

Yearly hundreds of thousands of rands are being spent on koi imported from Japan. Yes, they are the best koi
breeders, but, the best koi is not always offered to the South African hobbyists or South African buyer.

The term Tategoi, a term reserved for koi with future potential, is often misused by many dealers outside Japan in order to
boost their sales.

My opinion as a breeder is that only the breeder of a certain lineage can offer tategoi because of his knowledge and history with such a lineage. Izimo Koi Farm, in conjunction with Cape Koi Aquarium is planning a Koi Expo 27-29 March 2009. On offer will be one, two and three year old koi. Sizes range from 30cm to a magnificent Soragoi cum Ochiba Shigure (8 years) of exceptional quality.

You have the opportunity to compare quality with prices. Many of these koi have the quality to compete against the best on our local shows. We also plan on sharing
our knowledge on topics such as breeding; filtration and pond building so please join us on the day.

Hi All

I have received the Western Cape Koi Talk to day on an email and this was very intrusting.

Now just to keep the record straight the Ochiba in the middle of the top row was bred by Orient Koi Farm in 2006 and not as this article might suggest by IZIMO Koi Farm. This koi was bought by IZIMO Koi Farm from us in 2008 for R5000.00. Louis breed with it soon after and give us some of the eggs but sorry to say none of the fry came close to their mother.

If this koi is offered for sale it will be a good investment she is a show champion!
