can anyone tell me the type of koi I'm dealing with here. It's still a very young and small koi that I bought from a local breeder. According to him its very good quality koi, but even I will say anything is good when I want to sell something . thank you

Quite a unique koi. I would guess a Doitsu Hajiro? (mirror/kagami-goi)

thanks for the info. Do you tink this koi ( although also very young) may have some potential? I have another koi like this, but the colour is totally different ( a gold shine)

Not very sough after due to the lack of colour and in many ponds, you won't see him/her. Some would refer to it as a ghost koi.

Part of the Kawarimono group and not a true example of a specific variety.

Might develop into a nice pond fish.

Some people like to have a black fish because they might indicate problems in your pond. (mucus build up due to bacterial problems or white spot can be seen easily which provides an early warning signal and indicates possible problems in your pond)

Some people believe that it is good to have a black fish in your pond because it absorbs all the negative energy towards it and from a Feng Sui point of view, it is considered to bring good luck. I don't believe in most of it but see an article written by my ex on my website at http://www.koionline.co.za/feng_shui.htm

you'll never show that, but it will add character and balance to your pond and it will become a valued part of the family.

Koi keeping is a journey and not a destination, also you must keep fish that youi like to see.

Its pointless having a pond full of fish that everyone raves on about but you dont like seeing them.

Its your journey make it about you...
