How to strip bitumen down to the plaster

Hi,

I need to re-seal my pond, but I have existing bitumen I used before to waterproof. Is there any easy way to remove it apart from scraping?

I am almost sure I have seen a bitumen remover at our local Builder's warehouse a while ago.

I will check again.
