Why do the suppliers of pond equipment not stick to the same standard metrical sizes? It is always a battle to get hold of the correct reducers. 50 mm should be the standard. But almost every manufacturer of filters and UV's use different sizes.

Speck pumps could always be installed easily with 50 mm pipes. Now they have decided to increase the connections to 63 mm. Bought a new Speck pump yesterday. I then went to 6 suppliers of pump/irrigation equipment, and could not find a 63/50 mm reducer to enable me to connect to the sand filter. So frustrating.

Builders Warehouse sell the pumps, but do not stock the correct fittings. That is bad service.

Does anyone know who will probably stock a 63/50 reducer in the Cape Town area?

Does anyone know where to get 50mm class 6 piping and fittings at a decent price in JHB/PTA?

Paul you will only be able to find that type of fittings from Andrag or Effast. Andrag manufactures pipes. Effast is your better bet as they are actually the importers of the fittings.

They are in stikland.

Thanks Wayne. I heard about Andrag and Effast looks quite interesting and I am sure they will have. Will pop in there on Monday. I see that they also sell Aqua Master koi food.

I also found Turf-Ag in Montague gardens. Wholesale suppliers of agricultural irrigation equipment. They also have a branch in Johannesburg.

Got what I needed at Turf-Ag Irrigation, Marconi street, Montague gardens. Their fittings are a fraction of what you pay at Builders Warehouse.

Paul, Bergriver in Paarl carries everything. I can bring one to the show site on Thursday. Just let me know...or you can try to win the R500 gift voucher we have up for grabs at the show....do you want the bush reducer or the blue pipe going from 50 - 63mm?

You can let me know if you and the misses plan to attend the show braai on Saturday night at the site. R95 per person and at this stage we are about 45 koi kichi who will talk koi and more koi for the night and the later it gets...well, the funnier it gets... drunken

Thanks Ernst, much appreciated. However, I got what I want but will pop in at Bergrivier to check out their prices. I have heard that most farmers get their agricultural products in the Paarl area. For instance, Boland Plastics in the Paarl are definately the cheapest on irrigation pipes, although they are very strict on their policy of not selling to the public.

See you at the show and braai.
