Post from Koi Bito
As to the Kohaku, all are female, correct?

Lipstick is a graceful fish. She will be a pretty sight in any pond.

Maruten is scrawny!...I like that. At 64cm and still that long and lean, she has a lot of growing to do. Be patient with her. Folks are not going to appreciate her for a couple of years still.

Mask stands out for her robust body and that thick tail. I like the head. The cream yellow tones do not concern me.

In regard to all 3, I believe the beni is the key issue. You have 3 different body types, but I believe the beni is the same on each. The kiwa is not even and the sashi is imperfect. I cannot tell if the beni is maturing too quickly for the bodies' development or if it is still forming itself. If it is the latter, you have a nice collection of Kohaku you will enjoy for quite some time. If it is the former, enjoy them now. Within each step the Hi seems even with no weak areas (assuming glare not covering something up). So, I'm thinking optimistically.

Hi Bobby

As we supplied you most of the koi above I will not elaborated on them too much. For all other members, the mask won Junior Grand Campion in George in 2008.

The Kindai Showa needs a mud pond for a yaer or so, that will bring up the black.

All the koi are female as far as I know.

My favourite is Lipstick, the Kuchibeni. Maybe the odome is a bit large, but it is going to develop into a very nice Kohaku. Small possibility that it becomes a three step over the years. Shiroji excellent and very deep hi with very nice pattern.

The Kindai doesn't do it for me, but the other fish great. Pitty that the Hi on the Maruten extends into the dorsal fin and tail.

Very nice and neat setup.

To stay out of the line of fire, I need to revive this post about my 10000lt pond and show a bit of the filtration in operation.
This is also a gravity fed concept and I have installed 2 lines and are using waterfall pumps on both.
1. 18000lt waterfal pump-- direct from mid-water to Bakki shower.
2.From the 2 x BD's ---200lt Settlement chamber(LOL) to vortex drum with easy for mechanical and a second vortex drum aerated with K1 for Bio filtration---pumped back to pond with 50mm pipe via a waterfall and a 50mm midwater return.

My 200lt? settlement champer hosting 2 bottom drain 110 pipes and a 110mm waste pipe. This chamber is being used to operate the standpipe operation.
See for yourself the sediment that is blocked by this little chamber. Looking close-up to the front and right you will see the outlets of the 2 BD's' This chamber was flushed 6 days back and only 6 Koi in this pond.

Bobby - Bobby Matthee Small pond 10000lt IMG_1075_1

Next you will see my first vortex with easy that will do the mechanical fitration. This picture was taken before I turned on the air to clean this fliter.

Bobby - Bobby Matthee Small pond 10000lt IMG_1076_1-1

Back to the settlement chamber. The standpipes added to block water from BD's. The waste pipe removed to waste the water in settlement and eventually also from the BD's one they are drawn.

Look at the sediment that is still evident once the waste pipe is removed, before the cleaning process starts to remove all the muck that is now in the BD pipe. My camera was off and I missed the shot to show you the amount of sediment trapped in the bottom drain.
As Koi keepers we are creating a closed system for Koi to live in. My question is really without a BD where will this sediment end up in, you be the judge.

Hi JoesKoi Thanks
The bakki shower was a made up job using 316 stainless steel, its doing fine but considering the cost of stainless steel the Green Trickle towers that I have used in my new pond build could be just as effective at 50% of the price and no maintenance required and the price comes with media blocks included. I am seriously considering to replace mine with a trickle tower.
