Anyone interested in tilapia fish, be great for a pond or be part of your plant filter.
Had a couple pairs but have too many now.
Thanks.

PostSubject: Tilapia in mossel bay   Thu Jan 17, 2013 7:50 am

Hi thanks for reply. We have about 10 adult tilapias at the momment n they are breeding pairs. They breed like rabbits so a pair will populate a pond in a season. I've taken out three spawns from the pond since december.
Each fish for R20 just to cover cost.
Cheers.

Quinten i think they should be ok with your koi cos i've seen ponds with tilapia and koi. Not sure how much it would benefit your pond but i know that tilapia eat algea. They're mainly used in aquaponics farming and so on.

Hi quinten,
I am in mossel bay so r the tilapias. We initially bought them to sort out algae on pond, but i dont see any benefit to it. Kois do eat algae on pond walls too.
Cheers,
Jo
