I have start work on my filter system area.
When i back whas by sand filter some of the water is running back in to the koi pond.

I am also looking for 2 H/p boifilter that i am going to put after each sand filter.
I think it will work better then what i have planned to do.










I will post pictures as i go along.

Had some impacted on my water .
I never backwash the hole week my filters.

Now U need a blower to clean the sand filters... I wash mine every other day... With air...and backwash in between.
Your sand filter need to be opened on top when back washing...and steered deep inside with the hand, if U don't have a blower....and trust me it never gets washed well by hand and it is a horrible messy job....
Get a compressor from game...oil less one...and connect two lines of air to the sand filters...
U need to clean them at list three times a week...

Your koi have grown so much and are looking good! Are U not overstocked?

It takes only 5 min to clean it with compressor and saves water.

Yes i am over stock at the moment.
I have 3 off 2200liter jo-jo tanks that i have cut open at the top and going to use it for the small kois.
Soon as i am finish with the main pond i will start with that.

I also need to investigate the compressor option. Purchased a bead filter yesterday, but the sand filter still needs hard work. (Grumpy's job)

I cannot find the right y-piece. Where did you buy it? Builders, pool shops says it does not excist.

Appreciate it. Got a bead filter yesterday and want to run it with the sand filter. Trying to get rid of the t -pieces and 90deg bends.

Through that contact in KZN, I have traced two companies up here, One in Midrand and one in Boksburg who are suppliers of these y-pieces. I actually think yours came from here as well. R55.35 exl vat. The one in Boksburg is about two blocks from where Grumpy (wife) works. The company in Boksburg is
Astore Africa Tel no 011 - 892 1714 (Donovan) and the one in Midrand is Sizabantu Piping systems 011 - 237 2200 (Riaan Jooste)
The y-pieces is rated for 16 bar
