A legend in the koi industry sadly passed away last night. He was hospitalized with a swelling on his brain last night and shorty thereafter were lost to all of us.

Christie was actively involved in the koi society, and was responsible for setting up the koi shows for the Western Cape Chapter the last few years and always was one of the major show winners.

He was the owner of Cape Koi Aquarium, and we will all miss him sincerely.

My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

The South African Koi Keepers Society is deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Christie van Zyl of Cape Koi Aquarium.

The Society wishes his family courage and strength to move through the waters of life as everyones positive thoughts will be guiding them.

Met Christie at the 2011 George Show, I was amazed with how much he thought his little girl about this hobby.
