PostSubject: Kingfisher eating koi   Kingfisher eating koi EmptySun Jul 03, 2011 10:55 am

Is there any way I can disscourage Kingfisher and herons with out netting.
I am thinking decoy of some sort, like a skarecrow in a veggie plot?
Thanks

A pergola would help, as it covers the pond in away that the bird’s “ approach path” is affected.

or a statue like this.............................

You can manage Herons with all kinds of ways like sensor sprinklers, limiting landing space etc. Twine around the edges works quite well for them. The Scarecrow method, CD's, crocodiles, etc only helps for a short while.

More difficult to keep Kingfisher's out except with a net.

On my farm, I use my pellet gun quite often. It does not kill them but they stay away after a shot. Available on Bid or Buy for only R 299.00 http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/40432296/B_2_Pellet_gun.html
