PostSubject: Dying fish.....   Sat Mar 26, 2011 4:52 pm

Hi Guys
Please help with advice...my fish are dying left right and centre.
On the smaller fish it looks like they have a "ballast" problem...spiraling to the bottom..lost 4 very small ones to date
Today i noticed that a bigger fish is showing the same symptoms ...and it looks as if the fish are experiencing a muscle spasm...

Im draining 1/2 my pond to refill with fresh water and salt..any other advice would really be appreciated

Hi

1. Where are you located?
2. What is your water temperature?
3. What is the water Total Alkalinity?
4. How many koi in the pond?
5. How big is your pond?
6. How long have you had the koi?
7. Have you added any new koi lately?
8. Have you done any water treatments lately?
9. How often do you do water changes?
10. Do you have a filter and pump that runs 24/7 on the pond?

Lots of questions but this should help us figure this out.

Hmmm, white foam...that does not sound healthy.

How is the 6 new babies doing?

If i had to guess i would say your new babies introduced something bad into your pond.

Go to the members section and contact Chris Neaves. He is a member on this forum and he is the health expert of SAKKS plus he lives up their in gautengeleng. I think you need someone with knowledge to come and give you a visit.

Martin.

Jy is "overstock" (5000lt @ 12 Koim= 416lt per Koi)

My gut feeling is that martin is experiencing a PH crash but the fact that the new koi are ok and the older once has died does raise other concerns...but lets rather get some other experienced hobbists on site to investigate.
