Waterproofing Empty
PostSubject: Waterproofing   Waterproofing EmptyFri Sep 03, 2010 3:59 pm

Many of the forum members living in Gauteng knows the product Hydro Seal well. They had a stall at the Johannesburg koi show and I only heard positive remarks about the product from everybody who used it on koi ponds and various other applications.

In view thereof, I went ahead and tested the product myself as I was never 100% confident with the other sealants like Coprox, Sika sealers, various Butimen sealers, Matcrete, Durapond, Cemflex, Cosmodek, Waterblok, Everbond etc.

I am very happy with the product and decided to do all my new selling ponds with Hydro Seal. (the decor range) and seal all the fittings with Hydro Stop from the same supplier.

We also became the sole distributor in Cape Town and I do have stock.

For more information, please consult the following brochure or send me an E-mail.

Hi Admin
As a believer in Hydroseal (I also like the product, and have used it with great success) would you also add a sealant to the plaster before applying Hydroseal on a new pondl? I have used Sikalite with my plaster mix previously, and want to do so again.
I know that Hydroseal requires plaster with a measure of poricity - and not too dry - to bond properly with the plaster, and Sikalite may just reduce that. The sikalite plaster will also reduce the moisture from entering the plaster from the outside, keeping the final layers of pond sealant more stable.
Regards
Jack

Hi Jack, the instructions say that you do not have to seal it beforehand with anything.

However, I have also added Sikalite to my plaster mix on my last pond thinking that it would provide better waterproofing, but what you are saying makes sense.

Sikalite would probably prevent Hydro Seal to work the way it is intended. I will enquire from the experts on this issue and come back to you should I receive a clear answer.
