Hi

What would cause a koi's skin to become a bit course? All fish including this particular one is fine and there are no parasites on this koi. Took a scrape and checked with microscope. There's no visible signs of wounds, sores, red fins or anything else. If you rub the gill plates of a mature male, you find a certain course feeling. It the same as that, just over the entire body.

It's probably nothing but would like to know what the cause of this might be....

Chris,

What is the condition of the mucus on the fish, and is it a Male?

Yes, it's a male and the mucus doesn't come accross strange? There's no excess mucus or anything anywhere.

That's normal for some male koi to be corse all over, if he's happy and eating fine, don't worry.

Can the skin be normal and a week later feel course?

I'm not at all concerned as the koi seems to swimming fine and eating well. Was just wondering if there's something that might have caused it.
