Dear Western cape SAKKS members.

Its time for the western cape Annual General Meeting otherwise known as the AGM. The AGM is the most important meeting of the Koi Society. At this meeting the outgoing chairman will lead the AGM and will give a brief report of the year, the outgoing Treasurer will give feedback on the chapters financials, at the end we will elect the new committee members for the coming year. The new committee will be responsible for the financials of the western cape chapter and all its events.

The AGM will be held on friday the 26th of November at the Willowbridge Dros at 19:30. The 1st notification regarding the AGM was sent to all members on the 13th of October 2010. Only paid up SAKKS members will be eligible to vote, if they cant attend the meeting for any reason they can ask the outgoing chairman or any other paid up SAKKS member to place their votes in their stead.

I need to ask for nomination so long for the following positions:

* Chairman
* Vice Chairman
* Treasurer
* Secretary

After i have received the nomination i will communicate back in a weeks time if the nominate members have accepted their nominations or not. Existing committee members that are interested can also notify me if they are willing to stand again. It will be a good idea to confirm first with the person that you wish to nominate if he will stand for the position.

bump, bump - reminder.

Please note that i have received no nominations so far and no RSVP's.

I received some queries as to why we are holding the AGM at a pub and how we will be able to hold a meeting with all the noise.

I have booked the small conference room at the Dros at Willow Bridge so the noise of the restaurant will not affect us. Please RSVP so that i can confirm the numbers with the Dros.

This week friday is the AGM. Everyone please attend.

Please note that we have lost the conference room cause i could not provide any figures for number of attendees and no one RSVP'd but we have a table for 15 people. but they said they could add more chairs if we needed. Its the time of the year for year-end functions and those things so you can understand that the Dros gave it to the group that could guarentee numbers.

Wayne please count me out will be at a media function. Have also decided not to get involved in the society 2010.

Daar is nie een nie. Net 5 lede uit 55 het opgedaag.

Daar moes teminste 20 lede wees vir 'n quorum.

1. 'n hobby is 'n tydverdryf wat ons vir afleiding en fun doen. kwalifiseer koi aanhou dan as 'n 'hobby' as ons dit net om te skou doen? ek stress meer gedurende 'n skou as gedurenede enige ander aspek van my lewe.
2. Ek het baie goeie vriende met baie nice damme en stunning koi en ons geniet mekaar se geselskap ter dee. Sonder enige koi poletiek - het ons dit werklik nodig?
3. ek het my 12 rondtes op 'n komittee gedoen en twee koi skoue tussen al my ander dinge help deur trek. Ek het eenvouding nie die tyd om te gee nie.
4. Indien skou vir my belangrik en 'n prioriteit sou raak - en ons het nie 'n skou indie kaap nie - Bloem en George is nie te ver om te ry nie. Ek hoor die melktert is baie lekker by die Bloem skou! In Japan vlieg koi lekker om te gaan skou - as ek dit regtig weer aan myself wil doen sal ek gaan met een of twee vis na waar ons Japanese judges kry - Gauteng of
Durban. What ever.

Well I really dont know whats going on all I know is that my first year In koi was amazing and want to thank everyone for everything they did YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE and wish we have another good year in 2011 with a baby show and a full western cape show. I was not able to make any of the show s due to work commitments (no money no honey) But my family were welcomed and said it was great, I beg lets all just work on the hard work of 2010 put all the BS behind us and stick with what worked well this year and have a awsome 2011. sorry if there is spelling mastakes I are disleksick and cant be bothered to spell check.

I feel that without koi shows, the hobby will not be the same.

•Shows help to promote appreciation of quality koi;
•It stimulates the hobby and stimulates the need amongst high end hobbyists to purchase top quality koi;
•It gives you an opportunity to compare your fish to others and to get acknowledgement for your skills in choosing and raising koi;
•It creates and stimulates competition amongst dealers to the benefit of hobbyists;
•It provides an annual "get together" and opportunity to meet fellow hobbyists and share ideas and knowledge;
•It gives an opportunity to hobbyists to buy from various dealers on a equal footing and allows you to compare the quality of fish from various dealers and negotiate the best prices;
•The educational value cannot be underestimated;


This year I went to the Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town show, and during those few days, I learned more about koi than during the whole rest of the year.

Nice pond fish and ponds will survive, but not top quality imported koi.

Take the shows away, and the dealers and breeders will suffer, as a large portion of their income derives from high quality show fish.
