I am installing these PC 18 000 pumps as an add on to some of my large dams for oxygen and increased circulation, and the fish loves it. At the end of the day, it is only 90 watts.

One of my clients indicated to me that he even runs his PC pump through a sand filter against my advice with good results. I am a bit skeptical but will test it soon.

So if your client runs a PC pump through a sand filter, can I run one through my 2x 3bag filters which are in parallel and use my current 750w speck pump just for backwashing?

Also can I use one to run a venturi 1.5m below the surface to feed ozone into a 5000L drinking water tank?

Hi Dan, I am of the opinion that it will battle to push through the sandfilter unless you replace the contents with a easy flow material like hair curlers.

As far as the Venturi are concerned, it works very well with venturis.

By the way, I took delivery of 10 new PC 18 000's today for those who are interested.

Sold 10 units at the WC koi show the past weekend and took delivery of another 20 pumps today.

The only complaint that I received since selling this pump, is that after months of use, the water delivery is not the same.

Please be advised that the drive shaft has a small hole through it to cool the motor, and this hole gets clogged after a while, especially if used in dirty water. Push a wire or something through the hole every few months and it is as good as new. All my PC 18000 pumps running on the farm are all running perfectly with occasional cleaning.

Hi Paul

Can these pumps be serviced like swimming pool pumps or do you simply buy a new one after a few years?

Hi Wayne

The gaskets/seals that have to be replaced on pool pumps from time to time will last much longer and can be replaced by anyone by purely opening the pump with a screwdriver and replace. DIY. Much more difficult with a pool pump.

The motor has a thermal cutout protection and should not burn out. If it does burn, any rewinding company will be able to rewind. The pump has the same parts as the Waterfall PC18000 and they apparently have spare parts available.

However, I had no problems so far.

Thanks, Paul, I really appreciate it. What else will I be needing to go with it? I have nothing but a standard 750W pool pump with grotty sand filter at the moment (which I have no clue how to open :/).

I'm thinking of building a filter setup in the corner behind the pool with a gravity return. For starters it must simply support plants and clear water.

Hi Johann

By voorbaat dankie,
Riaan

My filter setup gaan in die hoek agter die swembad staan, so hy moet ongeveer 1.5m lig.
