Air supply Empty
PostSubject: Air supply   Air supply EmptyMon Feb 25, 2008 2:54 pm

Hey

Can someone please help, what is an aircurtain and how do I calculate the size airpump that I must install in a 20000lt pond and how many airstones must I install. I also want to know what the best filtration system to go for, is a settlement Chamber(vortex), one 50 liter filter and media and a 2 bag sand filter big enough

Nelius,
Depends whether your settlement is going before or after the pump.
Those air curtains are bought complete and looks like a hose pipe that is weighted down and perforated to allow small bubbles through.
Size of pump depends on depth and length of curtain.

I like high pressure systems, much less maintenance involved.

Thanks for the reply, so if I install say a 1 meter aircurtain in y pond with say a 120lt/m pump I can do away with the venturies and the oxygen supply will be enough, I also have a 80l/m pump airate my filter chambers.

I think a smaller airpump will also do.
It is pretty easy to achieve near saturation on a pond the size of yours.
I all your returns are above water I think you should have more than enough oxygen entering your system, especially with the airpump in your filter also.
