Snails Empty
PostSubject: Snails   Snails EmptyFri Sep 03, 2010 10:41 am

Hi

I know somewhere on this forum someone had a problem with snails in the pond, but I can't seem to find the thread.

What was the medications that could be used to get rid of the snails in a freshwater environment?

Thanks....

Hi Chris,

Snails PondsnailsLymnaeidae
Water Snail (Lymnaeidae) 1 to 10mm in length.

Found in pond filters and they are not harmful to Koi, in fact should they land up in the pond the Koi will eat them!

I know they're quite a nice appetiser for the Koi.

It's for client that has freshwater aquariums. He's looking for something to get rid of snails in the tanks.

Paul - How much will it cost to get Seponver Plus and Trichlorfin from you and which one will work best for the snails?

Hi Chris, according to Collin the Seponver plus does not work and he also tried Dimmilin without success.

I have a lot of Dipterex(Trichlorfon), but it expired and if old, it turns in Trichlorfos which might kill the fish. Trichlorfon may not be sold anymore in South Africa for the last three years, and all stock available are old stock.

Maybe you should try Copper Sulphate.

It is seldom a problem in the pond itself. It is normally a problem in the filters and block the piping. You could also empty your filter, and sprinkle a few cups of course salt over them, leave it for 10-15 minutes, and open the filters again(before your good bacteria die)

Aluminium Sulphate it is obtainable from swimming pool outlets. I am not sure of the dosage suggest you go have a look at Doc Johnson's site that is where I read it.
