| Thank you! Is the ginrin showa the first fish on the top of the first pic? I know the kohaku, but which one is the Tancho Kohaku? I need to learn the names. |

| Thanks Paul. oh yes, that makes sense - Its not so hard to put the names with each one now. I have a rough idea of names, but thought that one was called a tancho, never heard it called a Tancho Kohaku before. Guess I will learn. I agree with you Wayne, looking at that Showa now, I see its messy. the guy in the shop kept showing me another Showa and telling me that it was a better choice, something about colours still to come out, and it would develop. I should have listened. |

| Stumble,
that showa we discussed, can you have a look at how it swims...in the first and 2nd picture its body seems funny. I cant put my finger on it.
the ginrin showa i like....just please check that it can close its mouth and that is not a problem..its open in all the photos.
I like the Hi Utsuri as well (Moenie vir Bobby se nie)
I would also like a more closeup on that Shiro Utsuri. |

| Oh I see what you mean. I went to have another look at him, and he is swimming perfectly.
I guess that wasn't the best time to take pics. The guys were in their salt bath (except the last pic) and they were all doing funny things and losing their balance slightly, they wernt happy. I left them for 10 mins and watched them closely then took them out. They all seem calm and fine now. |

| The mouths were open as they were gasping. I felt sorry for them, they hated the salt bath. They are in their quarantine tank now, and much calmer. The Kujaku's didnt seem fazed about the salt. |

| Overall a nice collection.
Your best kois in my opinion, in no specific order. 1. Ginrin Showa 2. Ginrin Kohaku 3. Shiro Utsuri 4. Hi Utsrui.

| The shiroji(white background) of your ginrin showa is the type what you should look for. Pure snow white and shows good skin quality. The black will consolidate and develop. Nice balance between red white and black. |

| Hi Stumble It is nice fish I think all of them they are still very young to really get excited. Feed them well and lets have another look in 2 or 3 months. I would like to see the Hi come out a bit stronger then they will be great. I specially like the showas.
Nice fish You will be surprised what they might look like come show time. |

- Pattern comes last remember.
Yes Wayne, that is what a lot of people say, including text books, but they still consider pattern as fairly important. It is almost as if they do not always practice what they preach? To me personally, pattern is quite important. Look at the Ginrin Hariwake on this post. It will never win a price because of the lack of pattern, although it has got very nice features apart from pattern. When an Utsuri is almost all black on the head when this small, it will become very dark when large. I like an interesting lightning strike or V-shaped menware which is also desireable, however, this is still a fairly nice Utsuri. |

| Patroon op meeste shiro utsuris is on voorspelbaar. As tosai en selfs 2 jaar oud sal niemand hierdie koitjie hier onder gekoop het nie...Maar ek verstaan wat jy se...ek dink die koi skoue maak dinge erger. Vir my is patroon meer belangrik by kohaku en sanke. |

EdHall I got them in Durban from Koi@Jungle - they had some stunning fish there. |

| Well the Ginrin Yamabuki Ogon faded head is nice yellow again. I don't know if that was from stress. They are all looking stunning. Will be going in the main pond in a week or so. I will take pictures. I swear they have grown in these few weeks. |

| I moved these guys to the main pond today. What a battle to get decent pics - most are grainy. The weather changed by the minute, and I kept forgetting to adjust my camera, and the koi were not cooperating. I must say they are a very lively healthy bunch. I love how clean this Tancho is. Okay this ogon refused to have his pic taken, so this is the best I could get. this guy's colouring is also really nice. |
