Death of a home bred Ogon -

Alive and healthy at 08h00 - dead at 10h00 this morning. Not even breathing when I looked.
So sad.
85 cm
Really good ogon especially for a back yard special.

I think I am going to inject my females each year to get rid of the eggs.

Sorry, Very sad loss Chris
We should start a debate on all the options to save the bigger females from egg retension. It will not replace your Ogon, but as hobbyist we should learn how to avoid this at all cost.

Hi Chris, Sorry to hear about the ogon. Was the death due to egg retention? She does not seem that swollen.

Growing any koi from a small size to 85cm is a wonderfull achievement.

Hi Chris
Your disappointment is tangible. I would appreciate a posting on how to manage this potential problem.
