I personally could not figure out what JR was talking about, but did not want to open my BIG mouth.
It did not make any sence to me.
Did it make any to U?
I think He just invented a name (therm) for increased nitrification due to increased input of ammonia., and the way filter bacteria adjusts to it, by increasing production of nitrate...
How did U understand it?

Think you have it. He did say he invented the name in the thread but saying that it is not something that will happen to a new pond....it happens over time.

Yes!
It is reasonable to expect it not to happen to a new pond since a new pond is not cycled properly, and does not have enough bacteria to process even small amounts of ammonia...I think the therm there will be probably overloaded filter. Rolling Eyes Very Happy cyclops
