| Ok, this fish is on its way out... 1. Its now developed pop eye 2. Its skin has become discoloured in some places - a yellow musterd colour. 3. Its pectoral fins have small little bumbs on them and are breaking. 4. Scales behind the gill plate is starting to rise - looks like dropsy is setting in. 5. Its "peopol" is yellow / purple. |

| Thank you Collin, i have also been told that the liver of the koi seems to be missing....could that be the red blood mass in the body cavity. Im sitting here with my koi books trying to identify the organs...i think its a good thing that im not a surgeon. |

| Sorry about your loss. Such a stunning fish.
Can I ask how you "put her out of her misery"? |

| I used a anaesthetising agent called Phenoxetol. One usually uses it to put the fish into a calmer state when doing topical treatments, injections or cosmetic work on koi. One can use clove oil or salt there are also a few other brands of products on the market.
Basicly i just mix the Phenoxy with water and i put the koi in it. One can usually see when the koi is falling a sleep as it looses its balance. Then you take it out and work on it. In her case i covered the container so she could not jump out and then i walked away leaving her in the solution. |
