Hi everyone

New to this here forum. Great site with alot of valuable information.

Did a search, could not find the information I needed.

I am in the process of building an indoor pond of about 700 litres (not for koi - too small). Intended for gold fish and some other species, would like to do a water wall effect of about 2m therefore I need a stronger pump. Now for my questions:

Waterproofing - I have chose Waterblock as my weapon of choice - I have seen this mentioned quite often - must the matting be used or can this just be painted on? The tin says matting must be used but I have read somewhere that just painting is fine?

Pump - was thinking about getting a pump with at least a 2.5 head so that it can confortable pump about 700l for my water wall. Which would you recommend - deciding between the Hydrotech multi 2000 and the Waterhouse 2000 pump? What are the other brands you would rather use?

Piping - what size should I use, currently using 40mm and where can I get all the couplings, etc for the filter and pump connections in CT?

Thanks
Haggers

You can use the paint without matting. It will work and you should have no problems. You can buy couplers at most irriration shops and go for at least the same size pipe as on the motor or bigger

Thanks for the replies - really appreciate it.

@ angry ant, very nice set up, neat and everything - where are you piping?
Im in Kuils River, building a small pond in the uncover braai area

@ Marius - thanks, will do so. What irrigation places, like builders warehouse, etc?

Main thing now is for me to choose a pump, options are between the following brands
1) Hydro tech
2) Waterhouse
3) Aqua H20

Help?

For pumps, see http://koionline.forumotion.com/equipment-f31/submersible-pumps-t1032.htm

If you are in Kuilsriver, the best place for piping and fittings is Andrag in Stikland, or try Builders Warehouse, Cape Gate or Turf-Ag at Montague gardens.

Hi Paul

Thanks for the response - think I will give Andrag a try:)

With regard to that pump - seems to big for my little pond (only 700 litres) was looking for a pump that pumps about 1200 litres at about 2m or thereabouts - what you think?

Also, I do not know that brand of pumps, Atman - is this better than the other three listed?

Also, do you stock the balance of the Aqua H20 or Atman range?

balive it or not but my pump and sand filter is about 18m away around the back of the house, the pipe for the water fall runs up from one of my 2 inlets with a T and a valve so i can close the valve reduce the flow into the pond and increese the flow to the waterfall hope it helps, but really if i was you i would try building a bigger pond you will be sorry at a later stage ( trust me ) go as big as you can
