No offence, but that koi should have been culled at birth.

Haha none taken. I am on the lookout for much better koi, but like you know, its an ongoing and learning process. This koi was one of the lucky escapies. The guy I bought it from does not cull any of the fry. Thanks for the information, but can you please ellaborate on the explanation of the type of koi and why its a bad ( or very bad in this case)?

This will help me understand the aspects of koi breeding much better. Thank you

This koi comes from a flock spawning and you can see some metallic in the pectoral fins. I guess this koi will look the same as it grows with the black becoming more dominant. It will also have a speckled appearance when bigger. This koi will only get uglier lol!

I just hope you are not paying too much for these lesson's...

Learn what not to buy from this while learning what to look for, also use these fish to hone your fish keeping abilities. Dont keep them too long and waste too much food and resources on them.

But above all dont get uptight about it all enjoy your journey and your learning curve, never forget what it is and what it is all about.
