Nice pattern, but I wont have the guts to pay so much for such a small fish.
Looking forward on her development.

No guts no glory cheers

Obviously paid for the name of the bloodline and for the nice pattern.

I'm taking a chance but i can't afford to buy bigger koi from the same bloodline so i had to go for tosai.

I thought that i will just give everyone an update on my little dainichi.

She is now 48cm and growing very well. You can see from the colouring on the scales that she streched quite a bit this summer. She has not put any bulk on yet but that is consistant with the Dainichi bloodline which take 15 years to reach its full potential. That is according to the Koi 1 book.

Im taking her to the george show, will have to see what she does.

Hi Wayneb,

Looks like you didn't feed her any colour enhancer this summer in oreder to have better growth rate.

Hi SAS

You are correct, she wont get any coulour enhancer food until she's about 4 years old. I dont want to bring the colour out to early. All she got this summer was Aqua Master Growth and blood worms.

Hi Wayne,

If you can wait until she is 4 years old before feeding any color enhancer, i think the natural color will show. And if the hi do develop naturally to become more intense, my suggestion is not to give her any color enhancer. Because at 4 year old, the koi haven't reach her maximum body length yet.

By the way, do you stop feeding completely during winter?

regards,
SAS

Hi SAS

No i havent stopped feeding in the past. I use to just swap over to a mixture of growth and weatgerm and decrease the amounts they get but this year im planning to stop feeding for the month of July.

Baie nice, hou van hom. Goed gebalanseerd en puik shiroji en gaan 'n absolute wenner wees na 'n paar jaar. Well done op die groei.

It's good to stop feeding during winter, but just be careful what you feed you koi after the "Stopped feeding period". Because if you feed them something which is difficult to digest, they will die for sure.

Also, feeding a lot doesn't mean they will grow (I mean grow longer in length). I even stop feeding them one day each week in summer.
