I notice some koi keeper in Asia like to use Anti-Parasites treatments regularly even there is no parasites, they think this can prevent parasites.

Can you tell me what do you think, is this good or bad.

Hi Sas in my opinion and understanding there is no medecine for koi to get rid of parasites only poisen to kill the parasites so why would one want to treat if there are no sighns or certanty's of parasites ?

Also allot of treatments stress out the fish ( as I said Poison ) and stress leads to healt problems due to the fish imune system being more vulnarable when the fish is stressed.

So my argument is that :
1st off : Why stress a fish when no positive identification on any health problem can be made wich in tern could lead to health problems.

2nd : If a treatment is repeated regularly in a dose lower than instructed the " Parasite " could build up a imunity to that treatment.

This is my understanding on the subject and since I am still very young in Waterkeeping I may be wrong lets see what the others with more experiance have to say.

There is only one thing to prevent parasites attacking your Koi and that is Garlic!

I used Garlic in my Koi food for the past two years and did not have any parasite outbreaks since.
