At last, you found the answer to rising Koi food prices!
Start a mozzie farm in the settlement chamber and feed the lavae to the Koi.
Bonus - put the settlement chamber to another use! Now it will come to its rightful use.
Thanks

Koi loves Mosquitos and I would leave them. I have seen people installing a mosquito/flying insect zapper over their pond. All the zapped insects fall in the pond and creates a great food source.

Normally you do not find a lot of mosquitos around your ponds and filters as they normally do not breed in flowing water. Might be that your flow rate is very low?

When I still had my ‘’top-in-top-out’’ filter system and used shading net as filter media, I had the same scenario. Many mosquitoes, some blood worms, flees, water flees between small stones in waterfall and some funny creatures that looked like crickets without legs and a ‘ flat- scorpion- look- alike ‘ tail. (Still don’t know what this was) I can not blame the shading cloth but rather the stagnant water that I created with my brilliant ‘to-be found- at-my-home-only’ filter system.

For me mozzies is a real issue because we live in a malaria area.

I introduced some mollies and platies into my filters and they control the mozzies well.
