PostSubject: what should i be feeding my koi?   Wed Oct 28, 2009 10:40 pm

hi there all well I really dont know what to do as I really want the best for my koi like myself I dont mind spending a little more on a good meal and I would like to get the best for them at a reasonable price everyone has a different opinion on what to feed, but really am tired of people saying that this is bad and that's no good please guys what is the best off the shelf koi food and were in CPT can I get it. at the moment I am feeding

40% aquanutra Hi protein
50% aquanutra maintenance
10% aquanutra color enhancing

all mixed, twice a day just half a cup each feed, I was told by someone no names mentioned that this product is no good and it has alot of waist, I could be feeding less with a better product, get better results with less waist.

please could you all please tell me what do you feed a show winning koi as that is what im aiming for, I really think I have a few show winners just want the best for them.

Ant,

I would highly recommend Sakura Food, I personaly use it and it is also used by alot of the big names in koi. You can get it from costa or call him and find out who distributes in the cape.

It is locally manufactured every six weeks so it is fresh, compared to the other stuff that is 2 to 4 mnths old before it even gets to SA and then sits in the sun for 4 to 6 weeks., before clearing customs.
The food is a really high quality and i have not looked back since changing to it, and an added bonus is that on top of all of this it is cheap, A 4kg bucket is R95-00 or R580-00 (i think) for a 20kg bag.

and then, You can call chris neaves on this, forget all the wheat germ and that crap, you only need 1 food.

Please chris help out here abit.

Protein (min) 40.00%
Fat (min) 4.00%
fiber (max) 3.00%
Ash (max) 9.00%
Calcium (min) 2.20%
Phosphorus (min) 1.80%
Moisture (max) 10.00%

1% Spirulina & NO artificial clourants
Krill
Squid
Shrimp
Kelp

This is a full spectrum food and can be fed year round, all you need to do is adjust your feeding volumes depending on the seasons and water tempreture.

There is NO need for wheat germ and colouring food.

Rather feed this and add snacks of seafood mix, lettuce, and blood worms.
If you want i will give you the recipe
