PostSubject: One Day KHV Seminar   Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:04 pm

Hi All

We are on our way home from a Koi buying trip. But we first had to stop off in Europe to do some marketing for our farm’s exports next winter.

During our stay in Europe we met up with Modi Haimi one of the most knowable persons on KHV that I had the pleasure off meeting. We had dinner and sat and talked for 4 hours just about KHV.

I asked him if he would come and share his knowledge on KHV with us in South Africa and to my surprise he agreed to come to South Africa and give a one day seminar about KHV.

I requested that the seminar could be structured in such a way to include every thing about KHV known to humankind in a language that every person could under stand.

We plan to have the one day seminar at the end of January 2010.

I would like you to post a replay on this forum if you would like to attend the one day seminar. Please RSVP a.s.a.p. to avoid disappointment as we will only be able to accommodate a small number of koi keepers as this seminar will also be attended by Universities, Governmental departments and hope fully MDS .

Please poste all your questions about KHV on this forum and I will send it on to him and he will answer them for you on the day off the seminar.
The seminar will be free of charge.

The seminar will be held in the Pretoria & Johannesburg area. A final venue will be announced closer to the time.

It is my believe that such a seminar is in the best interest of koi in South Africa and the Koi World. So if I was you I would post my questions on the forum and attend the seminar and get first hand information about KHV as this would improve your knowledge about KHV.

Regards

Question 1

Good day to you Collin, I am sure you will be able to answer this question, I am new to Koi keeping and am still learning, If a person has an outbreak of KHV and some koi die but not all the koi in the same pond die, the koi that survived the outbreak are they then carriers or just immune to the disease, and these koi that survive can they then infect a healthy koi or is the KHV dormant in that koi that survived in a pond that had KHV.

Question 2

If koi died in the pond because of KHV will it be in the water after all the koi have been removed or is it only in and on the koi what I mean is if some one has a massive pond like a dam and koi get infected must the hole dame be emptied and to what level must it be cleared to get ride of any trace.

thank you so much you should tell Mr Haimi he should come down to Cape town it will be a shame for him to come all the way and not see the mother city then we could convince him for a second seminar.

Thank you so much have a great day Shawn

Hi Shawn

I will forward your questions to him and he will answer them for you on the day of the seminar.

If you will fund / get funding for a trip down to CT and setup a seminar I am sure we can do somthing like that. I will just have to pre arrange it with him.

Have a nice day

Collin

Hi All

I am quit surprised that we still have KHV in South Africa as only 4 persons don’t know every thing about KHV. The rest of the koi keepers know every thing there is to know about KHV, if that is the case SA should have come up with a cure a long time ago. The only thing that I can’t figure out is way so many koi keepers still claim to have KHV.

Regards

Collin

I was just looking at Pieters auditorium seats and looking at Jaco's picture.

Jaco - don't you think you and I should book two seats each? <grin>

Kind regards,
Chris
