Ok, here is teh challange:
- pond was leaking
- filters are off
- water was staning while it was being fixed for about 10 days
- hardly any water circulation no UV light

Pond is green, visibility about 40cm, 25 little koi that are in now very happy.

Since Sunday morning, filter working 100%, UV light on and happy.

How long should I wait to see if it clears before taking other measures?

hi Chris
i read in one of your responses that you had great success with the use of barley straw. i have tried it for about 8 months and it did not work for me.maybe the way i used it was incorrect. i piled some loosely into pantihose ( lol new ) and kept it afloat by corking it and tying it at my venturi return lines for extra oxygen .any comments as to how it should be positioned in the pond if i did it incorrectly? all comments welcome from all koi lovers

Hi everyone

I am new to the forum and have spent many hours browsing all the topics, and I must say that this is a fantastic forum. It's great to know that there are so many koi hobbyists out there that share information, advice, tips etc

With spring here, algae will soon become a problem in my pond. I have read somewhere that a Pleco can go a long way to solve string algae problems. I also know that Pleco's don't like cold temperatures.

My pond is 3000 litres, 1m deep, bio ...

hi all.can some of the experts please tell me how much good bacteria is destroyed when treating algae with pondclear algaecide( blanketweed & string algae)the only reason for going this route is because nothing else that i have used to date has done me any favours and what would be my next step if the answer is in a negative light. thanks

I have 38 comets averaging 10cm in length . feeding aqua nutro , pond is crystal clear , fish are happy , just a thin film of algae growing on the walls (perfect) pond in full sun. no medication or algaecides added, ...

GREEN WATER

Green water is not bad for Koi, as a matter of fact, it is very good for them and breeders often prefer to keep their water green, because the fish thrive on algae and ensure a good skin quality to the koi and enhance the colours. However, we want to see our fish. Isn't that what Koi keeping is all about??

Very often, the quality of green water is much better than crystal clear water.

The reason why the water turns green is because of the accumulation of nutrients in the ...

Goeie dag

Kan ek dalk by julle inligting kry oor Koidam filtersisteem?

Ek het ‘n koidammetjie by my huis gebou (6m lank, 1m wyd en 600cm diep).
