Hi All

We are on our way home from a Koi buying trip. But we first had to stop off in Europe to do some marketing for our farm’s exports next winter.

During our stay in Europe we met up with Modi Haimi one of the most knowable persons on KHV that I had the pleasure off meeting. We had dinner and sat and talked for 4 hours just about KHV.

I asked him if he would come and share his knowledge on KHV with us in South Africa and to my surprise he agreed to come to South Africa and ...

Hi,

Sounds like a very interesting seminar in January 2010 - I will definitely be attending.

In the mean time here is the section on KHV that I am writing for the new SAKKS Health Guide. SAKKS issues the Health Manual / Health Guide free of charge to members.

This is a cut and paste so I see the pictures did not come out and some of the text may be a little jumbled as it is associated with pictures.

It is not finished - however this may answer some of your questions and stimulate ...

In my capacity as an attorney and koi dealer, I was asked the question on numerous occasions. Can I claim damages?

The answer is fairly simple. If the dealer ...

My guru can't tell me why, so here are the criteria.

Health of eyes good,

fins good,

scales were not sticking up (no bloating) and had slime but for a few 'dry' patches along lower body.

She was carrying eggs and they have been spawning. (New fry are active)

It looked like her belly had exploded! her intestines were all protuding and flesh missing over ribs, bones exposed.

She was about 35cm long with a wound of about 10cm along the abdomen.

Forgive us if we ramble on about KHV yet again. It feels as if we talk about this subject a lot, perhaps too much. This virus only attacks the common carp and koi. If your goldfish or other fish are also affected, it probably is not KHV.

WATCH for these symptoms and act immediately by removing the infected koi from your pond.

- GASPING FOR AIR,

- SUNKEN EYES - This is the most advanced stage of the disease.

- MUCUS - This is secreted by the skin, followed by dry patches.
