Hi,

Can any one offer advice how to to fix a sandfilter lid?
During the coarse of last night my lid of my sand filter decided to spring a leak. It is held down by screws.
What appears to of happened is the threaded part in the housing of the filter has broken /split.

What I was thinking of doing is drilling a hole through the chamber anb using a brass bolt from the inside out and placing a wing nut on the top.

Has anyone experienced this kind of problem before?
I appreciate your help and advice.

You have the right idea. I did the same with mine. I used silicone on the inside to help seal around the bolt, also using a large flat washer inside and outside.
Mine slip open due to some “sand” caught between the thread.
Tip:
Always screw back the bolts, after the cover was taken off, before you back wash and “turn” the sand by hand.

Thanks for the advice,
There is a product from Alcolin called aquabond it allows you use use it underwater and the surface does not have to be dry in order for it to Harden unlike silicone where the surface must be dry and grease free..

I will do the repair this afternoon pond has been off since about 4 am.
