PostSubject: Interested in Chagoi???   Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:39 am

I just had an anti-matter brainwave today. Not trying to steal the Western Cape’s idea of grow out of Koi, but this is what I have in mind:

I am prepared to buy 20 Chagoi Koi from Jaco. All the same size and from the same offspring and offer it to 10 people on this forum. (Two fish per person) I will bag the fish and put numbers on each bag and then draw names out of a hat to random select the fish for each person. Who ever is interested in the Koi must pay for the transport of the fish to the new home. You must post photos of the fish every 3 months for a year. The fish with the greatest development after a year will be judges by the members and I am prepared to offer an airplane ticket for 2 people to Zanzibar as the prize. The spending money will be for your own account

The way you introduce the fish to the pond and the way you grow the fish will be up to you but I would like people to share the following info:

Average water temperature

Feeding habits

Water parameters, pH, NO2, NO3, salt and and….

Stocking densities

Pond size

Filter system in use

Health problems encountered

This should be a great way to share the different aspects of Koi keeping to everyone.

Who will win?? A sand filter system; Nexus, hair curlers, shading net, Bio Balls, Matala, zeolite, Bakki showers?

Anyone interested??

Should be an interesting exercise! I believe grow-out competitions is good for the hobby and should create positive interest and a all round Koi awareness. Just a suggestion, should you want peace, Jaco or a group of dealers/breeders should be the judges. The keepers get very passionate and hot about Koi in competitions and shows.

Het Jaco nie Wagoi Ochiba's nie?

Nee f@K, ek wil ook deelneem.
Ek wou nog altyd Zanzibar toe gaan, of wie okal wen moet my saamvat.

Hi Julle

I think the first 10 people showing interest will be the people taking part. You are the first so far. Jaco will spawn the Koi next weekend and I will be home mid December. Hopefully they will be ready at the time and this will also give me time to ship them. He indicated that he is prepared to take them up to GP for people in that area to collect. The rest I will ship from Bloem

Marius
Hierdie is 'n baie interesante idee. Sit voorlopig solank my naam in die hoed.

Jan, ek sal ook graag 2 in my dam wil he maar sal nie deel neem nie.
